A Community Coalition for a Community Rec Center

As word of the renewed quest for a gym in Little Tokyo spread, more and more community members wanted to join the effort. The Rec Center, first envisioned by the community, and always for the community, can only be realized with the active support of the community. Thus, in February 2000, the first meeting of the Community Coalition for the Little Tokyo Recreation Center was held.

Community members meet to discuss and plan for the Rec Center

The Coalition is composed of a diverse group of people, from teens to 70+ years old, from Little Tokyo residents to those who do not even live in Los Angeles County. We are athletes and artists,
mothers, fathers and grand- parents. The only trait we all share is a commitment to the revitalization of Little Tokyo into an active, thriving community. To that end we meet monthly to organize outreach events, work on PR materials and discuss the progress of the Rec Center campaign.

If you'd like to have a hand in the realization of the Recreation
Center and the re-creation of Little Tokyo, join the Coalition!
