Programs of the BoLA
The Budokan of Los Angeles is a multi-faceted sports and activities center designed to accommodate a wide variety of events. Modeled after the Nippon Budokan of Tokyo, Japan, the BoLA will host many programs, sports and non-sports alike. Below is a short list of potential programs:

Martial Arts: The Budokan of Los Angeles will be the premier venue for martial arts in Southern California. Judo, Karate, Aikido, and Kendo groups have expressed interest in using the BoLA for practice sessions and tournaments. Practices will take place throughout the year. Tournaments will likely draw thousands of participants and spectators to the BoLA and Little Tokyo area.
Basketball: The Budokan of Los Angeles will provide a four-court gym for basketball programs in the local neighborhood, expanding options for tournaments and leagues. The BoLA will serve as a venue for both adult and youth leagues throughout the year. Additionally, many Japanese American basketball organizations have expressed interest in locating practices, leagues, and tournaments in Little Tokyo.
Volleyball: Japanese American volleyball leagues have experienced a resurgence in popularity. The BoLA can accommodate up to four courts simultaneously and welcomes leagues from across the Los Angeles area to rent court time for practices, leagues, and tournaments. Volleyball organizations have already expressed interest in using the BoLA for leagues and tournaments.
After School Programs: The Budokan of Los Angeles will provide a venue for after-school programs and youth leadership programs that include hundreds of low-income youth living in the area.
Health and Wellness Education: The Budokan of Los Angeles will serve as a resource for health and wellness programs for seniors. Health education workshops, seminars, and activities will address critical health issues affecting seniors today.
Visual and Performing Arts: The Budokan of Los Angeles will provide a cultural center to promote local artists and art education. Rooms in the facility, including a rooftop terrace, will serve as fantastic new venues for the creation, presentation, and preservation of local art and music.
Other Programs and Events: The Budokan of Los Angeles will be available for special events and programs. Community groups and local organizations can rent the facility for private events and functions.
